Duktus cast iron pipe technology operates a quality management system certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 and an environmental management system certified to DIN EN ISO 14001. Our products and production processes are regularly monitored by the Dortmund Materials Testing Office.
The comprehensive quality assurance system begins with the chemical analysis of raw materials and other materials, since in the melting and treatment of the molten iron, strict requirements are placed on the purity and consistency of the raw materials, the monitoring of the melting, the maintenance of the correct chemical composition and the injection technique.
During the actual pipe manufacture, the special solidification and contraction characteristics of ductile cast iron must be taken into account. When checking the annealed pipes, the key material values specified by DIN EN 545 (for fresh water pipes) and DIN EN 598 (for waste water pipes) must be confirmed. On the red-hot pipes, the socket and insertion ends are checked with limit gauges, and the wall thickness measured with sensors.
All pipes are subjected to a thorough visual check for external and internal faults. In the internal pressure testing with water, the pipes must withstand the prescribed test pressures for the type of pipe in question.
